Introduction: Non-union of fracture neck femur in young patients less than 50 to 60 years is usually treated with osteosynthesis. Osteosynthesis is usually done by Valgus intertrochanteric osteotomy using either double angled plate or dynamic hip screw
Material and Method: A retrospective review was performed using hospital database. Thirty two patients were treated for non-union fracture neck femur.
Results: Union was achieved at non-union site in 29 patients (90%). Union of osteotomy site was occurred in all patients (100%). Twenty nine (90%) patients were pain free at last follow-up. Avascular necrosis of femoral necrosis occurred in two patients (6.25%) and infection in one patient (3.12%).
Conclusion: The result of this study encourage the use of single angled plate for valgus intertrochanteric osteotomy fixation to realign vertical femoral neck fracture and non-union in relatively young adult patients.
