Abstract

The occurrence of firearm injuries, including scrotal injuries, can differ across regions and countries. Gunshot wounds (GSW) affecting the penis and scrotum are prevalent in approximately two-thirds of all genitourinary (GU) trauma cases, with an increasing proportion of blast injuries observed in military settings. The injury patterns resulting from GSWs differ for military and civilian cases, depending on the energy of the projectile.  The types of injuries that occur and how to assess them are also examined. In cases where there is a concern for injury to the deep structures of the penis or scrotum, operative exploration, and repair are necessary. A person aged 45 years came to the emergency department with a gunshot injury over the left inguinal fold which was an entry wound of size 05cm x 02cm and an exit wound was present over the scrotum and 05 cm away to the anal opening, patient survived.
